About Kempinski Club 1897
Europe's oldest luxury hotel group.
Kempinski dates its story to 1897 and the Berlin wine restaurants of Berthold Kempinski, who delighted customers with novelties such as wine by the glass. His grandson Friedrich Unger turned the family restaurant on the Kurfürstendamm into the Bristol in 1952, the first new luxury hotel in post-war Berlin, where Albert Einstein was a guest. Kempinski calls itself Europe's oldest luxury hotel group and carries a distinctly European grandeur, often in historic palaces, to cities from Munich to Nairobi and Bangkok. It now runs around 80 hotels and residences in 34 countries.
Kempinski Club 1897 is the group's programme for its partner travel advisers, named after the founding year. Booking through a member adviser adds the club's benefits to your reservation and gives you someone who knows each hotel's character. It suits travellers who enjoy grand, old-school European hospitality and want it arranged with care.
