About Shangri-La Luxury Circle

Asian hospitality, from the heart.

Shangri-La was founded by the Malaysian businessman Robert Kuok, and its first hotel opened on Singapore's Orchard Road in April 1971, bringing the city-resort idea to the island. The name comes from the hidden valley of James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon. Kuok described the house approach simply: this is the way Asian hospitality is done, from the heart. Expect generous lobbies, lush gardens and an attentive, gracious style of service. The group now runs more than 100 hotels and resorts, with its heartland in Asia and outposts in London, Paris and the Gulf.

The Luxury Circle is Shangri-La's invitation-only programme recognising its most valued luxury travel agency partners. Booking through a member adviser marks you as a Luxury Circle guest from the moment the reservation is made, with the benefits attached. It suits travellers who know Asia well and want a reliable, warmly run hotel in every city on the route.
