Accor was founded in 1967 by Paul Dubrule and Gérard Pélisson, who opened their first Novotel near Lille. The group added Sofitel in 1980 and has since gathered some of hospitality's most storied names, among them Raffles, whose origins go back to 1887, and Fairmont, keeper of grand railway-era landmarks. Its luxury hotels each carry a distinct personality: colonial elegance at Raffles, French art de vivre at Sofitel, playful design at SO/. Across all its brands Accor runs around 5,700 hotels in more than 110 countries, around 370 of them in its luxury and lifestyle division.

Accor Preferred gathers Accor's luxury brands into one adviser programme. Booking through a participating adviser attaches the programme's benefits to your stay, and you still earn ALL Accor points. It suits travellers drawn to heritage hotels, the Raffles and Fairmont landmarks in particular, who want an adviser to secure the right room in them.
