The Hari joins Vignette Collection with London, Hong Kong and Singapore hotels
IHG and Harilela Group have signed a three-hotel deal that brings The Hari's Belgravia and Wan Chai houses into Vignette Collection, with Singapore following in 2027.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a three-hotel franchise agreement with the Hong Kong-based Harilela Group, bringing The Hari’s houses in London and Hong Kong into Vignette Collection this year and adding a third address, on Singapore’s Orchard Road, in 2027. It is a deal that quietly extends one of the more distinctive small hotel names in Asia and Europe across three gateway cities, and it marks the brand’s first hotel in Singapore.
The two open houses come first. The Hari London holds 85 rooms in Belgravia, a scale that puts it firmly in the small-hotel category in a district where residential calm is the point. The Hari Hong Kong holds 210 rooms in Wan Chai. Both join Vignette Collection this year. In practice, a conversion of this kind leaves the hotels as they are — their names, their design, their service culture — with IHG’s booking and loyalty machinery behind them, which is the arrangement the collection format was built to accommodate.
Singapore is the genuinely new address. The 324-room Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre will convert to The Hari Singapore, Vignette Collection, opening in 2027. Orchard Road is one of the most heavily hotelled stretches in the city, and a conversion at that scale gives The Hari its largest house yet. It is also Vignette Collection’s debut in Singapore, which makes the property something of a statement piece for the brand in a market where luxury supply is dense and long-established.
The British designer Tara Bernerd is overseeing the Singapore conversion. Bernerd designed both The Hari London and The Hari Hong Kong, so the third house arrives with the same hand behind it — a continuity that matters more in a collection brand than in a chain, since what links the three hotels is the design language itself. For anyone who has stayed in Belgravia or Wan Chai and liked what they found there, that is the most useful single detail in the announcement.
The Hari has built its reputation on distinctive, understated luxury and on initiatives that sit slightly outside the usual hotel repertoire — The Hari Art Prize among them. That character is the asset IHG is acquiring here. Collection brands work when the individual houses keep their own identity and gain reach; they falter when the badge starts doing the talking. On the evidence of the three properties involved, this deal is structured to preserve the former.
The commercial relationship behind it is considerably older than the announcement suggests. Harilela Group and IHG have worked together for more than 50 years, a partnership that now spans six hotels and includes the Holiday Inn Golden Mile in Hong Kong — a property that has been a fixture of the city since the era when Kowloon’s hotel map was still being drawn. Five decades of continuity is the kind of context that tends to be buried in a press release and is worth surfacing: this is an extension of a working relationship.
For Vignette Collection, the timing is a milestone of its own. IHG’s luxury and lifestyle collection brand now counts more than 80 open and pipeline hotels worldwide, tracking ahead of its stated goal of 100 hotels in its first decade. Adding three properties under a single owner, in three cities that matter to the same traveller, is an efficient way to close that gap — and Singapore fills a conspicuous blank on the map.
What a discerning traveller should take from this: The Hari London and The Hari Hong Kong become bookable under the Vignette Collection banner this year, with no change to the hotels themselves, which means the practical shift is one of distribution and loyalty access. Singapore is a 2027 proposition, and one worth watching — a Tara Bernerd conversion of a 324-room hotel on Orchard Road is a substantial undertaking, and the brand has two well-regarded houses setting the standard it will be measured against.
