The Luxury Collection Launches Expeditions, a 10-Journey Platform

The Luxury Collection has opened a new line of travel beneath its hotel signage. Expeditions, announced on 18 August 2026, is a global platform of expert-led programmes that carries the brand’s Destination Authority positioning past the lobby and into the places its properties occupy. The inaugural collection runs to 10 Expeditions across North America, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean, each built around access that is arranged in advance and led by someone who works in the field.

The platform is organised in three formats, and the distinction matters when planning. Private Tailored Journeys are multi-day, multi-hotel itineraries that move a party between Luxury Collection addresses in a single country or region. Day Discoveries are single-day programmes offered at select hotels, designed to slot into a stay already on the books. Residencies & Collaborations are limited-time engagements led by a named expert, and they are the tier most likely to be time-bound by season or by the calendar of the practitioner involved.

Japan carries the longest of the launch itineraries. The Imperial Journey runs 10 days through Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara, and its value sits in the doors it opens. Guests are admitted to a samurai residence, spend time making sushi alongside a fourth-generation master, and take dinner with a geiko in Gion. Each of those is difficult to arrange independently; the Gion dinner in particular usually depends on introduction, which is precisely the sort of friction a platform like this exists to remove.

Italy takes a different register. The Grand Italia Rally is a six-night route that guests drive themselves, in classic cars, on a loop from Milan to Venice, Florence and back to Milan. Private boat arrivals and rooftop dining punctuate the driving days. It is a format that rewards travellers who want the country to unfold at road speed, with the logistics of the cars, the water transfers and the tables handled ahead of arrival.

The Aegean Odyssey covers nine days and three Greek islands — Mykonos, Paros and Santorini — linked by helicopter and yacht. The connective tissue is the point: island-hopping in the Cyclades ordinarily runs on ferry timetables, and replacing them with private lift changes how much of each island a traveller actually sees. Ashore, an archaeologist leads the visit to Delos, and Santorini is given over to wine tastings on the island’s volcanic slopes.

In Spain, the platform’s most hands-on offering is a five-day winemaking residency at Hotel Marqués de Riscal in Rioja Alavesa. Guests harvest fruit and blend their own vintage under supervision, and the wine follows them home: 40 custom-labeled bottles are shipped after the stay. The delayed delivery is worth planning around, since the residency ends with a decision — the blend — whose result arrives months later.

The Caribbean entry sits at Salterra, South Caicos, where three expert-led programmes run alongside the hotel. Conservation dives take guests onto the coral reef; a flats expert leads bonefishing across the shallows; and evenings are given to stargazing and kayaking. Read together, they suggest the brand’s intent for Expeditions to accommodate the traveller who wants a single well-guided day as readily as the one booking a ten-day itinerary.

What a discerning traveller should know is that this is an opening position. The 10 launch Expeditions draw on a portfolio of more than 130 hotels, and further programmes are to be unveiled this autumn as the platform expands across it. For anyone with a Luxury Collection stay already in the diary, the Day Discoveries tier is the quickest route in; for the multi-day journeys, the seasonal ones — the Rioja harvest above all — are the itineraries to build the year’s travel around.
