Some resorts announce themselves the moment you arrive; Amari Phuket prefers to draw you in slowly, one unhurried afternoon at a time. Perched at the quiet southern end of Patong, where the noise of the beach road softens into birdsong and sea breeze, it turned out to be exactly the sort of place I could happily lose a week in. For this Amari Phuket review I gave myself over entirely to its gentlest pleasures — long, golden hours at the Clubhouse pool, a happy hour I looked forward to more than I care to admit, and a spa that sits so close to the water you can hear the waves through the treatment-room door.
The Clubhouse
The heart of my stay, without question, was the Clubhouse. Its pool is cut into the hillside so that the whole sweep of Patong Bay opens out beneath you — a wide, glittering curve of blue that I never quite tired of watching from the water’s edge. Mornings here were for slow swims and slower coffees; the afternoons simply asked to be idled away.

The other reason I grew so fond of the Clubhouse was its happy hour, held each evening between five and six. It became a small ritual: a frozen margarita in hand, a spread of tapas laid out to share, and that same view turning amber as the sun dipped towards the sea. It is a wonderfully civilised way to end a day of doing very little.

Breakfast at the Clubhouse
Breakfast, too, is taken up at the Clubhouse, and it is a lovely, unhurried affair. There is enough to graze through slowly over that same bay view, and I found myself lingering far longer than I had intended, plate in hand and no particular plan for the day beyond another swim.

The Breeze Spa & the Beach
Down at the water’s edge sits the Breeze Spa, and its setting is half the treatment. Tucked right beside the beach, it lets the sound of the ocean do much of the work before the therapist even begins — a rare thing, and something I’ve not forgotten.

I have listened to the sounds of the ocean and felt the breeze, a truly relaxing massage while surrounded with nature.

A perfect place for a walk or a swim is the pier near the Breeze Spa.
The Verdict
What lingers, at the close of this Amari Phuket review, is the pace of the place. This is not a resort that demands to be conquered; it rewards those content to settle into its rhythm — the pool and its bay, the reliable pleasure of happy hour, an easy breakfast and a spa a few barefoot steps from the sand. For a relaxed, family-friendly beach stay on Patong’s calmer flank, I’d return in a heartbeat.
