IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened Kimpton Al Rowda Doha, bringing the Kimpton brand to Qatar for the first time. Announced on 2 November 2026, the hotel has 283 keys, five dining destinations and a rooftop infinity pool with views across West Bay. It is also Kimpton’s second address in the Middle East.

The opening follows Kimpton KAFD Riyadh, the brand’s first hotel in the region, and IHG has Kimpton hotels in Dubai and Jeddah lined up next. For travellers who move between Gulf cities, that adds up to a small regional network forming under one name. For IHG One Rewards members, it is one more place to earn and use their benefits in the region.

The 283 keys are split between 223 rooms and suites and 60 serviced residences. Every room has floor-to-ceiling windows, a bathtub, a separate shower and a dedicated beauty corner, and selected rooms and suites have private balconies. The design draws on Doha’s landscape and heritage: desert tones, tactile materials and nods to Bedouin craft run through the interiors. The result belongs to its city and does not read as a template dropped in from elsewhere.

The residences will matter most to anyone planning a longer stay. They come in one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, each with a fully equipped kitchen and backed by concierge service. That makes them a practical base for an extended work assignment in the city, or for a group that wants the space of an apartment while keeping the restaurants, pool and spa of a full-service hotel a lift ride away.

The hotel runs its food and drink across several distinct venues, each with its own job. August Zang handles bakery and coffee. The Oat House is the all-day restaurant, with a terrace where pets are welcome. The Surry is an Australian-style pub, and Sprezzi serves Italian food beside the rooftop pool. The fifth venue, The Capital Grille steakhouse, will join after its renovation, and its opening date has yet to be announced.

Up on the roof, the infinity pool looks out over West Bay, the skyline that defines modern Doha. A 24-hour fitness centre and Sandscapes Spa and Wellness complete the leisure offer. The brand’s signature rituals are all in place. Kimpton Kickstart sets out complimentary morning beverages and light bites from 5:30 to 8:30 a.m., which suits early flights and early meetings. Social Hour runs at The Surry from 5 to 6 p.m. Bikes are on hand, and yoga mats are provided in the rooms.

Kimpton’s pet policy is one of its most distinctive features, and it applies here in full. Pets of all sizes stay free of charge across the hotel, including in the rooms, the residences and the lobby, and The Oat House terrace has a dedicated pet menu. For residents and long-stay guests travelling with a dog, this removes one of the harder parts of planning a stay in the city. For events, the Sandalwood Ballroom and a set of meeting rooms are available for conferences, weddings and private occasions.

For those planning a stay, the essentials are simple. The hotel is open now, with the rooftop pool, spa and four of the five dining venues ready for guests. Anyone drawn by the steakhouse should check The Capital Grille’s status before travelling, as its date is still to be confirmed. IHG One Rewards members can earn and use their benefits on stays. Those weighing a residence against a suite should look at the length of the trip: the kitchens and extra bedrooms are the reason to choose the residences for anything beyond a few nights.
